Project Background
“Thinking of the world” has been the well-known slogan for SFU. “Feast of Screams” is a series of events that will exemplify this idea into the real life of SFU students who may or may not already be doing so. In the process of internalization, the SFU community has faced enormous difficulties in connecting with the international students population. On one hand, there are few events offered on campus that serves the international population of students; and on the other hand, domestic students feel rather disconnected with their international counterparts. With this said, there is an urgency to create collaborated events with the hopes of attracting both student populations as a whole to not only enrich individual university experiences but to further their understandings of the multiculturalism that is created and existing within their campus. “Feast of Screams” will act as a catalyst for students of different cultural backgrounds, the various SFU departments, the student society, and the various student clubs and department student unions to work together at fulfilling SFU’s slogan. Therefore, in terms of each component of this event, ISG et al. will be recruiting students from various ethnical and cultural backgrounds and will encourage them to bring their knowledge, experiences, and uniqueness to the event and will emphasize the collaborative processes which are being engrained into this project within its entirety. Through frequent cross-organizational interaction and student engagement, “Feast of Screams” will not only have its social aspect, but also facilitate the SFU Internationalization process which was voiced by President Andrew Petters at the Forum Chambers on Wednesday October 06, 2010.

- Shop for Halloween
SFU International received feedback from international students stating that they were unaware of Halloween traditions and felt hesitant to participate in Halloween themed activities due to unfamiliarity of tradition and culture.
